Access Information

General Info: Dingle does have some hills- I was able to do them well with my @batecmobility electric handbike attachment on the front of my chair. I didn’t encounter any cobblestones in Dingle.

Dingle Skellig Hotel @dingleskellighotel- I didn’t stay in an accessible room here, so I don’t have any comments on accessiblility. It’s about a 10 minute walk into the heart of town, and there’s a smooth sidewalk the entire way.

Out of the Blue @ootbdingle- There were 3 steps to get into the dining area. I required two people to help me up them.

Éalú at The Stonehouse @ealuatthestonehouse- There is a small step into the main area which I was able to navigate easily. There’s also another entrance that is supposed to be better for wheelchairs, but I didn’t know about this when I arrived. There’s an accessible bathroom!

Murphy’s Ice Cream (Strand St.) @murphysicecream- Accessible!

Dick Mack’s @dickmackspub- On a hill, there’s one very small step to enter and I needed someone to hold the doors open for me. There’s an accessible bathroom!

Foxy John’s @foxy_johns- No stairs to enter. I’m not sure if there’s an accessible bathroom!

Dingle Dolphin Boat Tours @dingledolphinboattours- We had a great experience with their staff! 2 out of their 3 boats are accessible. I rode on the Island Explorer. There was a ramp to get onto the deck (it was steep), and a ramp to get on the boat.

Dingle Sea Safari- Not accessible for me- all of the seats on the boat are like a saddle, and you have to be able to place both feet on the ground for support, and there is no way to secure a wheelchair on the. boat. Dingle Dolphin Boat Tours operates very similar tours and their office is right next to Dingle Sea Safari’s!

Slea Head Drive- Scenic drives as a passenger is one of my favorite ways to take in scenery, because it’s very accessible to me! I’ll be doing a full post on this soon, this is something I absolutely recommend for anyone visiting the area, especially if the weather is good!

Dingle Fairy Fort- This
This is one of my favorite perks to being a wheelc This is one of my favorite perks to being a wheelchair user, especially in Nashville which has a lot of paid lots these days! A Park Happy employee told me about this rule, and I’ve done it many times and have never gotten ticketed.

Rosie’s Guide To Ireland, Part 2: Dublin Transpo Rosie’s Guide To Ireland, Part 2: Dublin Transportation🚊☘️

In terms of accessibility, I found Dublin public transportation to be pretty good! I was able to get around to the places I needed to go.

What’s the best public transportation you’ve encountered? For me it’s the Copenhagen metro!

For more information about Dublin, check out my “Ireland Guide” highlight! Let me know what else you want to know about traveling in Ireland!

Note: If you’re using the Dublin bus, plan for extra time! They were often late. Occasionally, there would be another wheelchair user in the wheelchair space. In that situation, I’d either take the stroller/buggy space or wait for the next bus.

Dublin Bus will get you to the most amount of places, but the Luas was the easiest for me to use.
